I’m running for San Pedro Honorary Mayor. The event is an official program of the San Pedro Chamber and is designed as an opportunity for businesses and residents to celebrate and highlight our nonprofit organizations that do so much for our community.
Help me to raise money for my selected charities so we all win! Please donate generously to these worthy non-profits: Women are Heroes Too (Veterans West) and Pedro Pet Pals.
The candidate that raises the most donations will be declared the winner at the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce June 22, 2023 Business Awards & Installation Luncheon. The mayor "serves" two years, presenting the community at events and meetings.
Women are often silent in trauma, especially those who served in the military. Many of them suffer in PTSD but don’t talk about it. Then they transfer back into civilian life. There is a high rate of suicide. Some women veterans got together and decided they needed to do something to support their sisters in arms.
Helping women succeed, whether in business or to support and elevate in other areas of their lives, has always been important to Yolanda. "Why aren’t we taking care of those women who took care of us?"

Pedro Pet Pals' mission is to support homeless and animals in need in the South Bay by raising funds that provide services and supplies to local animal shelters, and to the community-at-large. Cat adoptions are encouraged by providing a home-like environment in Hyla's Heart Cat Lounge where prospective "parents" can get to know available kittens and cats.
PPP rescued an abandoned dog that Yolanda eventually adopted. Cinnamon, a pit/lab mix, has brought so much joy into her life. Yolanda admires the great work Pedro Pet Pals does.
